This week SEMMA kicked off their 1st in a series of 3 events – Going Global, held at ANZ in Dandenong on 22nd March. The collaboration event, together with ANZ, BDO & M+K included plenty of real case examples presented by Peter Evans from Mawson Global and the team from ANZ who also gave insight into the many varying customs that need to be considered for each country within the Asian region. The event covered the Planning and initial steps to taking the plunge to going global. Hearing from 3 key SEMMA member speakers:
- Jad Cooper – ANZ
- Rod Naismith – BDO
- Jason Ashton – M+K Lawyers
Each speaker spoke on their areas of expertise when planning to Go Global. The following topics were covered:
- Why go Global?
- Understanding – compliance and regulations
- Understanding – culture and business customs
- Model and structure
- Grants and concessions
- Research and intelligence
The main advice to take on board when considering to take the plunge is to be patient! Be prepared and do your homework, don’t be confrontational if you disagree, have your own people/contacts on the ground working within the country you are entering, consider the risks and maintain respect and honesty.
The event and content was well received and we look forward to seeing you at session 2.
Session 2 – Arriving and hitting the ground running will be held on Wednesday, May at 7.15am.
Full event details will be communicated closer to the event.
For those that couldn’t make session 1, you are welcome to join in on session 2.
