SEMMA would like to congratulate our members Injectronics Pty Ltd and Britannia Metal Industries on their wins at the Greater Dandenong Chamber of Commerce Premier Regional Business Awards which were presented at a Gala Dinner on Tuesday 17th March.
Injectronics won the top award for the night, the Premier Regional Business Award as well as the Small Business Award whilst Britannia won the Employment Award.
Injectronics is a Hallam-based business that repairs all manner of auto electrics, including transmissions, GPS, air-conditioning, heating and similar car components. Their big advantage comes from the fact that they repair second-hand units, as well as manufacturing new ones.
Commencing in the early 80’s Injectronics is now Australia’s leading supplier of quality remanufactured automotive electronic components. The business has doubled since 2000 and currently employs 30 people. Many employees are long term with a couple having been with the business over 15 years and a third having been with the business for more than 5 years.
Britannia Metal Industries has become a leader in metal parts fabrication and manufactures the highest quality pressure vessels, heat exchangers, refrigeration vessels and air receivers’ custom built.
In accepting the Employment Award, Martin Solomon, General Manager, acknowledged that his diligent and passionate staff had created the company’s success, earning Britannia Metal Industries this years “Employment Award”.
The company began during the war in 1941 and now turns over in excess of $10 million and has more than 50 employees. More than 25 per cent of Britannia’s employees have over 10 years’ service.

SEMMA member Jax Wax was named as a finalist in the Telstra Victorian Business Awards. They were among 24 other finalists.
Based in Officer Jax Wax is a husband and wife team of of Tina and Geoff Copeland. They produce blended wax which is used for a variety of products from surfboard makers, beauty salons and wineries.
Geoff said they were pleasantly surprised by the award and it was good to be recognised for all the company’s efforts and achievements.
Jax Wax employs four part-time workers and exports to Singapore, China, New Zealand, Iceland and the United Kingdom.
He said the company is not a retail business but sold through distributors.
"We sell products for a lot of unrelated industries that use wax products, from hair removal and beauty products to wax for corking bottles, snow-ski and surfboard wax and products for industrial laundries".
